It may be under construction now, but soon the new Pathways will be filled with learning, social interaction, music, laughter and friendship. This new location will be the fourth site for our innovative Pathways Program and the first in Lake County, allowing us to offer more individuals life-enhancing opportunities. Established in 2011, Our Lady of the Wayside’s Pathways Program offers day services for adults with developmental disabilities with a focus on extending the range of community integration for participants through a variety of activities, learning and personal development. Participants can learn new skills such as cooking, crafts and exercise or go on a variety of community outings that combine learning and fun. Recent outings have been to the West Side Market, Pathways Garden, Metroparks and Kirtland Farm Park.
The only program of its kind in the region, The Wayside defined a need for adult day programming that was activity-based. Pathways was created for individuals who flourish in an environment that provides more dedicated supervision and assistance than traditional day programs or workshop settings.
Take a look at our pictures below for a sneak peak of the new site. Check back for more details and visit www.thewayside.org to learn about our other Pathways locations.
