This is the second Dream Day event our Pathways program has been invited to participate in this year and we are overwhelmed with gratitude at these amazing opportunities, thanks Dream Days Ohio!
Thanks to our friend, Dream Days Ohio, some of our Pathways Day program folks were invited to participate in Dream Day at Browns Training Camp last week! It was an amazing day! We watched practice then we met and got autographs from several players! They were so nice and signed our hats, lanyards and shirts. They even let us take some photos and took the time to chat with us about football! Thanks to all of the Browns players and Dream Days Ohio for making this dream come true for us! This is the second Dream Day event our Pathways program has been invited to participate in this year and we are overwhelmed with gratitude at these amazing opportunities, thanks Dream Days Ohio! For the last couple of years the Dream Day Organization along with the Cleveland Indians and Diamond Boys Baseball Club has made dreams come true with their annual Dream Day at Progressive Field. They invited our Pathways Program along with Rising Star Academy to come on down to the field for a day of fun and learning for a once in a life time experience. Even though the weather didn't cooperate this year we still had a blast as we learned the fundamentals of baseball on the field and in the batting cages that the pros use! We then got a behind the scenes tour, even getting to view the Press Box! We are so grateful to the Indians, Diamond Boys Club and the Dream Day Organization for allowing us to be part of this incredible experience!
Best friends. That’s what Scott and Chris are and just like best friends they have a lot in common: sports movies, comics and hanging out. They both like to goof off and both say they’ve been “silly since they were born.” Both attend the Pathways Day Program and like the excursions and computer class the program provides. Their favorites are summer outings to Cedar Point to ride roller coasters, the flea market and art shows. Now these two best friends are excited to have the opportunity to live together in their own home! Chris & Scott will be moving in April to a Wayside home in Berea with two other roommates, Lisa and Molly, and they can’t wait! The Wayside believes that each individual should have the right to choose where they want to live and our residential program allows people to do just that. With 53 homes in two counties, each Wayside home provides the opportunity to be a part of a family. Each home is modified for adaptability and provides daily support 24/7 by trained professionals. This allows each individual to reach their full potential and have greater independence. While Chris currently lives in a Wayside home, Scott lives at Guadalupe, a larger facility that The Wayside is committed to closing and relocating residents into smaller neighborhood homes. This will be Scott’s first home and he cannot wait! They recently got to tour the home and loved the stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and the back porch. Scott and Chris are deciding what color to paint their rooms and how to decorate. Chris is leaning towards green with superhero accessories while Scott likes blue for his room. They are also looking forward to having more house outings with their new roommates and more guys’ nights getting pizza while Lisa and Molly have their girls’ spa days. Check back soon as we update you on Chris & Scott's story and their new home! |
