Zack has been in the industry for decades, and has been quietly leading the way in the revitalization of the Cleveland dining scene. He helped turn the dining scene around in 1985 with Z Contemporary on the East side. After taking a break and working for other area chef Ken Stewart for eight years he decided to come back to Cleveland and open Parallax in 2004. After Parallax, he went on to open up eight other restaurants and Cleveland is certainly glad he did!
His success is drawn from surrounding himself with good people and his high standards, "You're only as good as your last meal." These standards have paid off with several James Beard Award nominations and a reputation for excellence at each dining establishment. You can't find a harder working chef in Cleveland than Zack, he is there in the trenches, every day, making sure each restaurant is creating excellent plates.
Zack is a huge cheerleader for Cleveland, all of his restaurants are located in the city proper. He wants his guests to enjoy not only the great food but the city, and all it has to offer. His has enjoyed watching the city grow and watching folks get excited to come back to the city to live, work and play. His restaurants are located in every action packed area of the city: East 4th, the Flats, Playhouse Square, Uptown, Downtown and University Circle.
He is also a big advocate for the community and has been participating in Cleveland's Finest Hors d'Oeuvre Contest for several years. We are excited to have this Cleveland chef back for the contest on February 25th at the Terrace Club. What will the Zack Bruell Restaurant Group be making for Cleveland's Finest? The only clue he'll give us is that it will be something representative of all the restaurants. All we know is that it will be fantastic!
