#50As we take a look back over the last 50 years of providing opportunities we spoke with Paul who lives in the Wallings Home on what The Wayside means to him. “Good staff, who treats me well and a very nice house that is kept up” is how Paul summed it up. He also likes the fact that there are so many activities and they are “always on the go, go, go” whether it’s a Wayside event, bowling together every Saturday, outings with other homes, horseback riding with Fieldstone Farms or playing on the Wii with his roommate Richard. His favorite events are the annual Starlight Luncheon, where he helped present the awards in 2016, and the annual Wayside Indians game where “the seats were amazing!” Paul and his roommates recently moved into the Wallings home and are really enjoying the area and the larger backyard where they can feed the birds and see wildlife.
Paul also gives high marks to Steve, his house manager, who he has known for 8 ½ years, and Terry Davis, CEO, who he has known for 25 years, “they are great guys.”
During the day Paul works at SWAAC where he has helped maintain the classrooms for 18 years. Spending time with family is also important to Paul and he enjoys spending time with his Dad, especially over the holidays.
Providing a wonderful place to call home through our residential services has been at the core of our mission for 50 years and we are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to Paul, his roommates and every individual who resides in one of our 75 homes.
