“Everybody deserves to be transported safely, reliably and comfortably without being dependent on others”, Don says. And that is exactly what the Wayside Transportation does: transporting individuals with disabilities when and where they need to go.
When Don started with Wayside over 20 years ago the agency had only 20 vans. Currently, the program maintains a fleet of 150 vehicles that provide services to each of our almost 80 homes, 3 Pathways locations and numerous individuals in the community who need transportation in the 7 counties Wayside serves: Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Geauga, Medina, Summit and Trumbull. Many of our specially adaptable vans are provided through strategic partnerships at little or no cost to ensure the future growth and development of the program.
Each of Wayside’s 150 vehicles are serviced, maintained, insured and inspected daily. Many vehicles are specially modified vans that are adaptable to meet the needs of the individuals it transports. Wayside drivers offer a more personalized service and are trained in operating adaptable vans, CPR, first aid, med passing and CPI (crisis intervention). All vehicles are equipped with GPS to ensure that everyone gets to their destination on time by the most efficient route. Wayside’s Transportation program is not limited by county lines and is consumer, not route driven. We go when a consumer needs to go and have an on-time arrival of within five minutes. "It’s what makes us different from other providers, it’s what makes Wayside set the bar higher," Don Szudarek. The Wayside is proud to offer the ability to be mobile to every single individual we serve.
